Each year the Thomas M. Menino Award for Leadership is presented. Lovin’ Spoonfuls Board Member Andy Youniss will be honored with this distinction during the VIP reception at the 2017 Ultimate Tailgate Party. Past winners include Christopher Myers + Joanne Chang, Andrew Zimmern, and Jamie Bissonnette.
Set against Boston Harbor, Red Sox & Patriots DJ TJ Connelly spins a backdrop of perfect party tunes, and the programming will be emcee’d by our friend and Culinary Panel member Andrew Zimmern!
Attendees enjoy food from restaurants like Toro, Myers + Chang, Coppa, Puritan & Co., Tavern Road, and over 20 others. Sip on complimentary cocktails from brands like Knob Creek and Basil Hayden’s, seasonal craft beer from Peak Organic Brewery, as well as fine wine and bubbles from sponsor M.S. Walker. The Ultimate Tailgate Party also features a silent auction with exclusive food and travel experiences, plus a photo booth stocked with everyone’s favorite football memorabilia.
The party kicks off with an exclusive VIP hour featuring a dazzling display of cheese, charcuterie & oysters, courtesy of Wasik’s Cheese Shop, New England Charcuterie, and Island Creek Oysters from 6:00pm – 7:00pm. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $250, which allows guests entry into the VIP hour and includes all the cheese and charcuterie you desire, champagne, a meet & greet with the chefs, and entrance into the VIP raffle featuring unique prizes. Last but certainly not least, join us during the VIP hour for an intimate celebration honoring the winner of the Thomas M. Menino Award. Guests at the VIP hour will have the opportunity for a meet & greet with the winner. The 2017 winner is Andy Youniss.
About the Thomas M. Menino Award
We honor our late Mayor’s life and legacy with this award. It recognizes those who hold the same ideals that he did – ideals that connect service, community and food. Each year, we honor someone who also sees food as a powerful tool for social justice, one that unites and connects people all over the world.
